Travel/Microclimates

We drive past the  Sonoma county airport on the way to see Kathy. We took a detour around the other side this morning to see the area where the small private planes are kept. One of these belongs to our next door neighbors who like to fly up the coast to fort Bragg for lunch. Their Cessna only holds two people and Paul is fond of flying around the area getting the aerial view of changes that seem to be happening almost daily. His wife Janet hears him fly over and recognizes the sound of the engine.

I tried to get a picture without the fence. A pickup truck drove through the 'Authorized Only" gates and left them open, so I sneaked up and peered through the gate only to see that there is another fence. I didn't think I would be well received if I went through the gate, but I thought the backdrop of Mt St. Helena was worth the shot of all the little private planes through the fence. One can't help wondering where people travel to on these little planes....At least we know where one of them goes.

We had our day of sun and warm temperatures today but the clouds are coming back in now. It was clear and sunny here when we left at 8:30 this morning, but by the time we got across to the airport, it was really dense fog. It began to clear while we were with Kathy and by the time I took this picture there was nothing left but wisps of fog.

Our neighbor Cindy brought Spike's buddy Hazel the basset hound up to play while we chatted about the neighborhood and some of its quirky denizens. Cindy was born in Santa Rosa and grew up in this neighborhood, and she is a realtor, so she knows everything about everyone. She's selling the house across the street, but it's turning out to be a hard sell because nothing has been done to the inside since the 60's and it's really dated. I hope they find somebody nice who has the money (and the energy) to update it.
