2024 Monday — Round 2
The second round of construction for 2024 has started and we are still in the first month of this year!
I’m referring to this as my indoor shed. We have so little storage space in this teeny-tiny coast house. There is no place to put a TuffShed in our yard, but there is one very nice slab of concrete in the garage behind Mr. Fun’s office room, which I call the “Oh My Gosh!” Room because it is such a disaster.
This open slab has become another “Oh My Gosh” place with cans of old paint, rolls of leftover carpet, and just odds & ends. Are your eyebrows raised? Mine are!
So I have claimed this as my spot; my little 5 X 7 indoor shed (I’m not sure of the exact measurements) where I can place plastic tubs of decorations, photos, whatever. The space will now have walls, a ceiling, a door, actually two doors; one for us to enter and exit the area, and one little half door that will allow access to under the house and the plumbing that connects to the bathroom behind our bedroom. It is a door we do not anticipate using ever, but who knows.
Two ceiling lights will illuminate the room and one light will illuminate the area under the house that the little door goes to.
The trickiest part of this will be the stairs; the slab is four feet or more higher than the garage floor. This house was built in 1941/42 so the configuration of this entire place is strange to say the least.
We need stairs that are easy for us to access in our old age (that would be now). So we do not want a ladder. But we do want something that will not take-up much space in an already small garage. This will be interesting. I have found stairs (made in Germany) that can be leaned up against the wall. If you are interested, look for “Klapster Folding Staircase.”
Besides being a clutter-bug and a hoarder, Mr. Fun is a man who likes to park the car in the garage. The garage is about as full of clutter as it can be and still fit a car inside. Can you hear my frustration?
Part of my frustration is that some of his clutter is happening in the house and driving me crazy. In his old age he’s come to the idea that if it can’t be seen, it can’t be found. Which I think is a lame excuse for not putting stuff away. I also think it is the craziness of old age.
Well, this has been as much of a rant as a post, so I’ll stop now.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
and Chloe & Mitzi too!
