Clean Lines

At 4 o'clock this morning we were waking up and getting ready to drive our visitors to Sundsvall Airport. All that went well, but as a result I am now rather tired as I blip!
We drove to town to do a little shopping and as we drove around we took a side-trip to the hospital car park by the South Sound. Today's blip is the view from that car park!  Across the ice is beacon Hill (Vårdkasan), with it's two ski runs cut through the forest. I've blipped before from the top of that hill, and its slopes. Beacon Hill is on the island of Härnön, and following the slope down to the right, on the distant horizon is the southern tip of that island, and a tiny view to the open sea. Furthest right is a piece of the forested mainland.
At this time of year I have a longing to walk / ski / snowshoe along the snow scooter tracks in the foreground of this picture, to see how far out the ice stretches, but that will be for another day!
Writing of snowshoes, one of our errands today was to investigate the council run "outdoor equipment library". This was created a couple of years ago, with new and second-hand equipment, and anyone can go there and borrow equipment for one or two weeks. Our mission was to find snowshoes to fit young A, one of our visitors next week. However we came away with snowshoes for him, plus two adult pairs of a different design to ours (so we can try them out), and a sit-up sledge for A's sister F, an even smaller visitor, and two helmets for the children. We noted they also have long-distance skates, another piece of equipment I'd really like to try next time we get some clear ice.
Such skates cost a couple of hundred pounds so it's really valuable that you can try them before deciding whether or not to buy. What an amazing resource, making the outdoors accessible for those who aren't ready, or able, to buy equipment.
The title of my blip refers to the simplicity of winter views. In summer there is so much variation of colours and shades in the water, trees, and vegetation, and usually even in the sky. In winter the colour scheme can be much more muted - just here white, dark, and blue!
