Papuan Toby Fish

It was eerie when I first started snorkeling, there were no fish; I swam the whole inside length of the reef, and I looked around to see if there was a reason for the total absence of fish. But then, I simply swam through the opening in the reef to the other side and I saw more fish than I had seen before on this trip. The sun was shining so this little Toby fish's markings were beautifully visible; I always feel excited when I see one of these pretty fish and even more excited to see a decent photo of one! The dilemma is that getting a good photo is iffy, I aim the camera in the right general direction and hope I will capture the fish I want to photograph; my eyesight isn't great in low light, and underwater the light isn't the best.

The extra photos are of a Cornetfish;  it is about 6 feet/1.8288m long and it is the main predator of the small fish on the reef. It can change its color to blend into its background and will quickly suck in any small fish or crustation that wanders too close. This one was quietly lying in a shallow area near the reef; I didn't watch long enough to see him catch anything.

I wanted to go back out snorkeling this afternoon but the wind has picked up, I am still hoping it will calm down before sunset.
