The Western Sky…… This Morning
Looking to the west over the stopbank into a vineyard. It was unusual to see such colour in the western sky early this morning. It was quite magical. The grapevines are lush and green due to careful irrigation. When I look at the dry, dry ground I am reminded how vulnerable we are to fire this year. I feel for the teams fighting the raging fires with their 14 kilometer front on the Port Hills immediately south of Christchurch. A very stressful and worrying time for so many. And wildfires are flaring across the Tasman in Victoria, Australia. We are on high alert here in Marlborough. The Wither Hills Farm Park remains closed and we are warned about the fire risk along the upper stretches of the Taylor River. So take great care my friends when up and about during these hot, dry days.
