Swimming start to the New Year

Our plans changed somewhat from our original idea and I have to say they turned out much better!
We started the day by going to Ingleton pool. First time I’ve been there. It was very nice and we bumped into Kirsty P there too.
Then instead of going to Otley for the organised swim we decided that due to the high river levels and posts of ‘don’t go beyond the steps if you go’ … and the fact that we were half way to the Lakes … we decided that the lakes would make a better ending to Cathie’s 50 different swims in her 50th year.
We drove to Loughrigg Tarn and had a beautiful swim there. And our third and final swim (instead of being a dip in White Wells) was right by the Wateredge Hotel in Ambleside. We met a young couple (with baby in pram) who got into the habit of dipping here every New Year’s Day for the last three years and were determined to carry on the tradition. He jumped in off the pier then swam back to be with the baby while mum walked in and swam a bit before getting out and changed. I hope they can keep up their fun tradition.
Such a beautiful day and three beautiful swims.
Couldn’t ask for a better ending to Cathie’s challenge and a better start to the new year. :D. (Except for getting home and hugging my baby! :D
