Climbing volcanoes

A day amongst volcanoes, climbing up was easier than picking our way down. Good practice for walking across boulder fields back home. We caught the local bus to Lajares and followed the trail up to the top of the Calderon Hondo Volcano. Having accomplished that with relative ease our guide decided to add on Volcán de Bayuyo (where I picked up a call from DC with an excellent 5G signal) and back to Corralejo via the cement works and a builder’s dump, both offset by an elaborate Canarian garden with bougainvillea bursting from the ashes.
The view from the top, extra, was decidedly worth it, looking out onto the resort town of Corralejo and the island of Lobos behind. We were back by 3.30 and most of opted to shower, drink St Miguel and chill until dinner.
