Bargain!
I decided to take Archie down to a few charity shops in Morningside, to see if we couldn't get a more suitable tee shirt for him. It was a nice walk on a sunny morning. Not too far, and bus home, of course.
Actually, I've realised that most charity shops don't really bother with kids' clothes, so we were quite lucky to get the football shirt at the local shop. And in fact, JR has been looking up kids' tee shirts and you can buy them in fives for a few £s. So my £2 bargain the other day wasn't a bargain after all.
Anyway, I spotted a lovely floral jig in the window of one shop, and went in to buy it instead (£9). I was well pleased with my purchase (this is us waiting for the bus home). But on the bus, I began to think that maybe we had one just like it already. We do have quite a lot of jugs... JR was not overjoyed at my purchase. Never mind.
Abi and Pip popped in for a chat about her up-and-coming South Africa holiday. Her mum is coming (from Canada) to stay to look after Pip. Also to discuss vet’s bills and sick dogs (Pip was attacked last year and was very ill).
In the afternoon Archie walked down to Morningside again with JR to pick up a pair of boots she's had re-soled. They're good for another few thousand steps...
I watched Zulu, which happened to be on. Impressive directing of all those hundreds of Zulu warriors, but the killing and death scenes were very staged, almost comical, far from the graphic violence that is the norm now. For this I was quite grateful. Nice to see a handsome Michael Caine in his prime. I wonder if he was watching it at home - must be quite strange for actors as they get old to see their younger selves.
