Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

What do you think you’re doing?

It was such a lovely sunny day, I knew I had to make the most of it in the am, because in the pm, I was watching two games of rugby...

So I busied myself out in the fresh sunny air of the front garden - sweeping away the leaves on the path and then washing it. Not only that, I fixed the 'fence' between us and the neighbour. It's not really a fence - just thin pieces of bamboo, which are quite old now, and they keep falling over. I found a long wire in the garden - it was attached to the roof!  It had never been there before. Obviously an old tv aerial, not in use for years - don't know why part of it was in the garden... So I used it to tie around most of the fence, and back on to the drainpipe. That should stop it falling down in a breeze again!

While I was working, the neighbour's window is right there, and the neighbours were watching my every move. Their names are Harris and Tweed, though I’ve only met them as kittens. Archie has never met them.

I also walked along to the shop. I can go that far and back without my walking stick, but I'm slow.

So - two games this afternoon, both excellent rugby. Wales played really well, but lost to Ireland. Scotland played really well, but lost to England. Due to Finn Russel missing THREE conversions, and ONE would have won it. He won't be feeling too happy tonight...

JR went into town and had a lovely time just browsing. Archie went out with Elizabeth and had a lovely time up the hill, though it was very windy! (Extra)
