Leap
As it’s a leap year, and February 29th, this image seems appropriate. She did jump eventually.
An afternoon visit to Dunham Massey. I haven’t seen goosanders on the lake by the house before, and nor had I noticed previously that there is a small heronry. It’s that time of year when these large birds take to the trees and become (sometimes) more vocal. In the extra there are two herons, one taking to the air, and the other largely hidden within its large nest and by the surrounding foliage (although close scrutiny reveals it’s there, probably sitting on eggs. One of the earliest birds to breed).
