T.K. Maxx
We woke up earlier this morning than we had to for school to meet Hanna, Maddie, and Katia for breakfast and 5Jahrezeit (the same place we went for dinner the other day). It was sooooo good. I've decided my favorite German food is bread. Just bread. It is so fresh and delicious (and its extremely popular, so thats even better). The German's have bakeries EVERYWHERE and go there all the time and its not super expensive, unlike the US. For breakfast I had Brötchen (a big circular bread roll) and a croissant with homemade strawberry jam, Nutella, and butter and then hot chocolate to drink. NOM. I was in heaven. We had to leave for school, however and go to our first and only class, Religion. We watched a movie (or the first part) about an older man and a younger woman both fall in love and get married, but then he begins to develop dementia and forget everything he ever knew. She was an artist and he was a novelist and even though I didn't understand what was really going on it was extremely sad to watch. At one part however, I was extremely confused as to what was being said, and my foot happened to slip and I hit my leg and laughed about it to Franzie and then I realized that she was crying. And then I look to my left and see Katrin crying. And then it was awkward. Because I was laughing. And everyone was depressed. oops. The movie soon finished, however and we met Maddie, Katia, and Leonie (probably not how you spell that) to drive to Giessen to go shopping for the day. I'm all for going shopping, but everything was SO much more expensive that it was really hard to justify getting anything. PLUS I have to remember that I'm going to have to fit it in my backpack and carry it around Europe. So I ended up only buying a new, smaller wallet for 15 euros (which was apparently a really good price). We also attempted to figure out how to get more euros, as I was running out of cash. I had no idea before I came that very few places in Germany take credit/debit cards. The problem with American credit cards, however, is that they don't have a chip inside of them like the German cards do so many of the ATMs don't work. We finally found one however that works with my card (YAY), but not Maddies (POOP). After we sorted all that out we at at McDonalds and it was delicious. Its something i'm not proud of.....but I loooooooveeee McDonalds. I wish I didn't. Upon leaving McDonalds we then saw the sign for T.K. Maxx, the German equivalent to TJ Max, except more expensive and with Lederhosen. We also went to Franzie's favorite shop called Peek&Cloppenburg and found an adorable sweatshirt by the brand Naketano, but of course it was super expensive and I stopped myself. I may end up going back though...who knows. We went home after this because all of the shops were closed and we were all tired. Franzie and I ate mini pizzas (basically Bagel Bites) and I drank a cappuccino (the only reason I'm able to talk to yall now). After dinner, Franzie, her parents, and I found a Herbie movie on TV and all watched it. The Kleinfelds love these films because they love the car, seeing as they have a white one, it only makes sense! It was a cute film and I've found that my understanding people when they talk has gotten a TON better since i've been here which is very rewarding. Now that the coffee is wearing off, however, its time for bed. Bis Morgen!
