Efforts

This street sign caught my eye as we were having lunch in the Island Café in Norah Head. What a strange name for a street, or even a lane. Was it an exhortation to residents to make an effort, try harder? More likely I think, it’s a family name. Certainly the family name ‘Effort’ crops up in the records, in England before 1066 and more recently in the USA and Canada.
 
I haven’t yet found any Efforts in Norah Head though.
