Good Companions

It appears that these two leather figures were used to make up numbers for dinner when there were only thirteen people sitting at table – it being an unlucky number.

We were visiting Lytes Cary manor (Extra) in Somerset, a delightully compact manor house.  It was a sunny day, but a little chilly in the generally unheated manor house; it was great to get out again, hoping that the rain stays away tomorrow as well.
