Pond
(Thursday 20th June of the cycling holiday is up. See Sunday 23rd June for explanation)
This is our little pond. As you can see, in summer, it gets pretty much overgrown, but there is a little open water between the lilypads and the wildlife seems to like it. There are a couple of resident frogs, and lots of tadpoles - which are now looking more froglike as they have their back legs. It's a pleasure to sit next to it on a sunny day and eat lunch.
Busy day today. Got the week's shopping out of the way in the morning and then emptied the fridge and turned it off. It's not working properly and gets a huge build up of ice on the back wall. I left it to defrost and went downstairs to put a second coat of paint on a door which I painted yesterday. By the time I'd finished this, the ice had reached a point where a knifeblade inserted gently behind it broke it off in chunks.
It came off quite easily and I ended up with a sinkful of ice. It did this once before and we had a bit of a row with Hotpoint. They did come out to fix it and apparently it had run out of the gas which it needs to run. Next time it gives up, we're going to get rid of it and buy a different make.
Going to pick my son up from University tomorrow. Looking forward very much to seeing him again.
