More of this
An early work party getting the sinkers shackled up before the tide came in and swamped us. Followed by cups of tea and chinwags in the Bell Block. More new members - ne of them a young lad - only 48!
And then I treated myself. Football on TV. £11.99 gets you 24 hours of Sky Sports. Not that I wanted that long - ninety minutes was quite enough, though as is so often the case these days, there were countless additional minutes of added time. Liverpool vs Man City in case you ask. And it was a cracker - sometimes there is too much at stake in ‘big’ games and so they’re like a chess game, but this was gung-ho stuff. Gung-ho - a term first used by US Marines in 1941, apparently.
Later we watched the first in the C4 series, The Rise and Fall of Boris Johnson. What an entertaining piece of TV - the next three episodes cover well known stuff, and probably in increasing detail, but this covered the first fifty years and was hugely interesting. Oh yes, and not just to students of politics. No, to students of human misbehaviour too.
