A hair raising journey
A long travelling day. We loaded up the car after breakfast, closely supervised by Phin who was a little anxious that he was being left behind. Wonder if wonders we left at 10am as planned and headed to Jedburgh to pick up the lovely breads we saw on Tuesday. Found a lovely sandwich shop to buy our lunch. I had a very tasty chicken salad and Mr PHL enjoyed a coronation chicken baguette.
The weather was rather inclement but we managed to make it to the dealers for 2pm as planned to collect the caravan. They didn’t find any issues with damp thankfully and they had managed to fit the bed frame. We just need to wait for a couple of replacement parts before scheduling a return visit.
Back in the car to head towards Scarborough well actually Cayton. The satnav routed us along the A170 and we were a little concerned to spot a sign saying the route wasn’t suitable for caravans! Apparently Sutton bank is a very steep gradient with a hairpin bend and we needed to get off the road. However there was no alternative routes and we ended up having to turn in a farm track. To be accurate Mr PHL turned the car and caravan and I stopped the traffic.
Back on the A19 and A64 and we finally arrived on site just after 5. It’s really nice and has a great enclosed dog walking area so Phin could finally stretch his legs! I had planned to make turkey keema for dinner but the mince was still frozen so we had to go to the local pub. There were two other couples from the campsite there with their dogs and we enjoyed some live music from a young singer whilst we ate. Loved the sign I found on the pub.
Not a late night as Phin needed a last walk around the campsite.
Thanks to BikerBear for hosting FlowerFriday. Finally found some blossom in Jedburgh.
