Eriksson fulfils an ambition and more flag furore
Read a really interesting opinion piece by Barney Ronay in The Guardian on yesterday’s flag furore. Of course, it is significantly better than my take on it, and while I was gobsmacked, he seemed to feel it was all a little predictable. In hindsight, he is right.
Anyway, I spent today still feeling crap – I have managed to get another doctor’s appointment for Tuesday, so I’m hopeful that some sort of diagnosis can be made other than the “wait it out” crap from the walk-in clinic.
Managed to watch the LFC Legends game against Ajax. In the build-up to the game, Sven-Göran Eriksson, the former England managed, announced he had always been a big Liverpool fan and had only a few months left to live after a terminal cancer diagnosis. So, Jürgen Klopp invited him to the club and asked if he wanted to be manager for this game. Eriksson jumped at it, of course. It was actually quite emotional, watching him tear up at “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and on the final walk around the pitch. Nice that he was able to fulfil an ambition. Perhaps the most amazing thing was getting a crowd of 60,000 to attend a charity match being played by the over 40s.
