Michael Palin was speaking at the Royal Geographical Society this evening. I managed to get a ticket and it was a pack out. the great man was giving us a taster of his next tv project, Nigeria. Look out for it on Channel 5 in April.

He was an excellent raconteur and showed us a range of fascinating photos of the various places and people he encountered. 

At the RGS building there is a show of prints from the ill fated expedition of Shackleton and the Endurance. Amazing images and astonishing that they survived.
