Koningsdag

Here we are getting into the King’s Day spirit. 

Up early to get to the Van Gogh museum for our 9.15 slot, and we thoroughly enjoyed seeing his amazing paintings (see extra) inc. Sunflowers, Irises, etc. 

We then wandered into the very centre to get some atmosphere of the day and it’s quite something. A sea of people mostly in orange heading into the city centre to celebrate the King’s birthday and generally party. Apparently, up to a million extra people head into the centre of the city and party. 

That said, we ended up going against the flow, walking back to our hotel to chill, as we are of that age that a good cup of tea wins out over partying with Heineken anytime. We understand that the joyous time goes on all evening! 

It’s so nice to see so many people, all ages, religions, ethnicities, coming together as a community to celebrate and have a thoroughly enjoyable time.
