R&R
We had a bit of a lie in then chatted whilst I had some breakfast and called Mt to check on arrangements for the funeral on Monday. Showed him the blue skies and sunshine and how well the camellia was doing that he planted the other week…it was raining in London!
Watered all the greenhouse plants and covered them from too much sun, then packed everything up and set off. We dropped Paisley at a kennels in St Boswells then drove on to Jedburgh where we stopped to get coffee and a cake for me, BLT sandwich for A. More driving south, through some beautiful Northumbrian countryside, chatting about living in the countryside vs the city, future housing plans etc etc. Stopped when a goat crossed the road and then waited on this wall for his friend who followed behind…lovely to be driving on such quiet roads.
It got progressively cloudier as we drove south and we were pleased to finally arrive at the hotel near Leeds.
Lovely public areas and big comfy chairs and sofas everywhere. There was a wedding going on and an awful lot of fascinators and very uncomfortable looking shoes adorning the guests.
We managed to secure an upgraded room given the first one wasn’t the twin we’d requested, then headed down to have a drink and relax in the lounge before spending some time in the pool, sauna and steam room.
We got changed and had a drink before dinner which was tasty. A had been ravenous so she was relieved to finally fill up! The waitress was doing her first shift and, poor thing, dropped the ketchup when she was clearing the table which splattered over the chairs at the next table which led to a bit of a kerfuffle.
Back up to our room for tea in bed and we were both asleep shortly after 9.30pm. Just what we needed!
