Diary of an Edinburgher

Al Lado, por favor

Another cold day, though the wind had dropped. We have the haar still hanging around, but they're promising warmer weather next week. I'll believe it when I see it...

JR went to her first gym class this morning. Archie went out with Elizabeth, and we walked round to a new tapas bar and met Hazel there. And it was very good, too. Actually, and I'm reluctant to say that I wasn't impressed with some of the meals we had in Spain. Perhaps we made the wrong choices. Anyway, I eventually learned to ask for patatas bravas with NO mayonnaise (they put gallons all over the top) and the spicy tomato sauce 'al lado' (on the side).

But the best (ie worst) meal was in a wee traditional bar, Hazel chose 'prawns and mushrooms' - sounds nice - and she got a huge plate of big slimy chewy mushrooms in a brown sauce and TWO prawns! JR asked for scrambled egg with white beans and ham, and got a plate of soup. I had a very nice coffee. (Extra)

And so today, it was with some trepidation that we went to a new local tapas bar. And we all loved our choices. We even managed to bag a window seat.

Maggie came to spend the evening with us while her mum and dad went out for the evening. (Sorry, the lighting was hopeless).
