New Allotment
Our friends Tom and Zoe sure do take on a lot. A three story antique shop, the basement of a warehouse full of chandeliers to thread, the skeleton of a four story house that they've just bought to renovate, a baby on the way and an enormous allotment that has too many weeds in it. At least with the latter, we can help. So from now on, we are the weeding team and we intend to head down to the allotment whenever we can. Such a wholesome pursuit on a Sunday, with the cold rain not getting in the way of our grubby fun. Here in the picture, we stop for a tea which Tom brewed for us on the fire. Then it's back to work.
As we pedalled away into the evening drizzle, we felt cozy and excited to be heading back to our own home. We no longer need to call in favours from friends for a desperate shower or a kitchen we can borrow to cook dinner in. Instead we go home, bake some rhubarb freshly picked in the last hour + bask around our few square metres of space that we can so happily call our own.
