Svalbard

We arrived safely in Longyearbyen this afternoon where our expedition boat was awaiting us in the harbour. There were a few snow flurries but it's largely been dry with some bright sunny spells. We have spent the first few hours on the boat having safety drills and briefings from our expedition team about the route we will take. We left the harbour around dinner time into the icy sea. 

It is 10pm, but I do not expect sleep to come any time soon. We are buzzing and tempted to stay up on deck to watch the middnight sun.
