Uzbekistan Day 10
A full on day of guided sightseeing with yet another dynamic and knowledgeable guide; all the main sights/ sites in Samarkand visited as well as a plov lunch with fresh strawberries bought from the bazaar on the way and a visit to a craft village to see traditional paper making from mulberry bark.
This was our final destination; the Shah-i Zinda necropolis: meaning living king . A relative of the prophet Muhammad is buried here, the only place a relative is found in Central Asia so a very significant place for Moslem visitors.
The complex consists of numerous tombs and mausoleum lining a narrow steep stepped street, each one in various stages of decoration from plain to painted to tiled to gilded with intricate patterns.
Then the high speed train to Tashkent and now in the hotel. One final trip to the Chingan mountains tomorrow..,
