Lake Charvak
Our final day in Uzbekistan day 11 ☹️
Tbh when I saw the itinerary I did wonder if today was just an “add on” and that the trip should have finished after arriving from Samarkand last night ?
So waking up in Tashkent to torrential rain compounded the feeling …. but as characterises the holiday it’s turned out marvellous in every way—another jewel in the crown of Uzbekistan
Our driver Umit ( Hope) was keen we should get the full Chingan mountain experience, about 90 km outside Tashkent. The road was a bit hairy in driving rain but he insisted on stopping at every potential photo point and ushering us out the car , even in the rain, with his very limited English but boundless enthusiasm. Keen to snap us both “ two people photo” was the command.
Surprisingly after our ride through the hills to the reservoir or Lake Charvak , the rain stopped , the sun came out and we enjoyed a wonderful scenic panorama ride up the Chinorkent cable car and a lovely lunch up top.
The next stop was the amazing rock carvings at Hojikent 100-40 000 years BC!
The bonus was our introduction to Uzbekistan song “K’ok Jiguli “ which means Old blue Lada or something ; the video seems so old fashioned!
Now back at the hotel and wishing we could stay in Uzbekistan longer !!We have an early flight home via Istanbul .
