Exomvourgo walking
Blipping before dinner when I can still string a few words together. A full days walking that took us to the summit of Exombourgo at a modest 559m it’s the fourth highest hill on Tinos. Originally the site of the Tinian Acropolis, we could just make out the remains of a Venetian fort. At the bottom stands a former Jesuit monastery, the church still in use.
Following rocky paths we continued to Volakas, extra, where we stopped in the community café for refreshments, payment by donation. There is much about this island that reminds me of the remoter parts of the Camino, not least the number of churches we passed, all facing west, many appearing inaccessible. And the long and winding paths cross crossing the landscape, sometimes green, other times craggy and scattered with enormous boulders that look like they might topple over.
