Monday
No.1 had booked tickets to see Caitlin Moran at Clapham. She has read all her books and was excited to hear her interviewed. The morning was very stressful with a chaotic messy house with the kitchen empty and covered in dust sheets. Malcolm had appeared for breakfast and mid morning when we had not seen him for a while we thought we had better look and check he was ok. However despite two hours of searching in EVERY and I really mean in and under everywhere in the house, he was nowhere to be found. I was convinced he had sneaked out of a window or disappeared in a puff of blue smoke and was beside myself with worry. It wasn’t our cat and we had already lost him.
I set off for Tooting with a heavy heart, couldn’t really concentrate on much (how would we tell No,2 , what if the cat was stolen or run over (even though we were convinced he couldn’t have got out?). The show was about to start and I got a text from OH to say that Malcolm had sauntered downstairs at 7.30 without a care in the world looking for food!!!! We suspect he had got into the airing cupboard and disappeared behind the pipes under the bath - I had checked the airing cupboard three times and moved all the towels etc but didn’t check under the floor boards!! Relief - silly I know but we had looked everywhere in the house three times over - but cats are clever and know the best hiding places.
The show was good and we got our books signed by Caitlin at the end of the evening and No1 was delighted to get a photo of her. Quick Uber ride home and then bed, sleeping on the sofa which was remarkably comfortable.
Day done.
