Hannah's Bottle Garden
Rain in the forecast for the day but it didn't start till late morning. People couldn't seem to decide what to do so I said to K, it's not raining yet, let's go to The Dunes, shown in the extra. As we were leaving out cottage, one of the ones in the cottage beside us asked where we were going and if she could come with us. I said sure, so she grabbed her backpack and hopped in the car with us. The 3 of us traveling together worked out well.
The rain had started by the time we left The Dunes so we headed towards Cavendish, a popular beach and shopping area. Unfortunately you have to pay to get to the beach, so we didn't see the beach. After leaving Cavendish we went to Point Prim lighthouse. As we were driving down the road towards the lighthouse we saw a sign that said 'Hannah's Bottle Garden". We decided to stop there after a visit to the lighthouse. It is a fundraiser for the IWK children's hospital, and has raised over $100,000 in donations.
There was much discussion on where everyone would go for supper. It was difficult to get everyone to agree on a place and time and then get reservations for 11 people. L, the one who came with us at the last minute said she had a chicken and salad at her cabin, and she had planned to take it to the potluck last night, then she fell asleep. She invited K and I over to her cottage to share the chicken with her.
Apparently there was some drama after we left this morning, and one woman did decide to leave. It was likely better that she left instead of taking her negativity out on the rest of us.
K and I are leaving in the morning and taking the ferry back to NS. The remaining people are staying until Monday.
Overall, it's been a good weekend away.
