Poppies (again)

Last night we thoroughly enjoyed our tasting menu at The Old Bank in Snettisham, it was superb. It's a tiny restaurant run by a husband and wife team and they only offer a tasting menu, and the meal comprises eight courses and each as superb as the other. We started at 6pm and only finished at about 10.30pm so it was a relaxed evening.

This morning we had some rain and it looked like it was going to be squally all day, but it did not last long and then we had sunshine all day - it actually reached the giddy heights of 21C!! As it is Father's Day we decided to treat Gavin to an outing to Houghton Hall where we wanted to see the Antony Gormley exhibition called Time Horizon - 100 human figure sculptures dotted around the 300 acre park and all at the same height, so they are either raised up or sunk into the ground to compensate for variations in the topography. Unfortunately we needed much more time there, we only had time to go around their exquisite walled garden - one of the best I have ever seen - but we ran out of time to explore the house and the park. (We will return in a couple of weeks) The flowers in the walled garden were at their peak - lupins, foxglove, and the roses...magnificent! I have added an extra of  an area of the walled garden with one of the statues, and another of Adam and Anna in the rose garden.

Then it was back to Burnham Market where we were going out for Father's Day lunch. We enjoyed a lovely lunch, but we missed Luke and Meriel who are now in Croatia.

After lunch we tidied up and packed up and set off for home - but I had to make one more stop to see the poppies again, yes I am a bit obsessed with them but they are nearly over and when we return in a couple of week's time they will all be gone - so my blip is of the poppies (again).
