At the Salzburger Freilichtmuseum there are about 100 buildings of which many are 400 years old. They have been rebuilt in the extensive museum grounds giving an indication of the lives, trades and crafts of the past inhabitants. It was very interesting wandering around the buildings which included a mill, school, blacksmiths and a church with many furnished as they might have been and most people shared the house with their animals. There were all sorts of farm implements and machinery and garden plots with typical plants and hay fields full of beautiful, wild flowers. The photos show some examples of the ways that wood was used in fencing and the joints, with wood gutters and the elaborate wall on a barn.
