Petersfield to Palazzo!

Turns out Peggy Guggenheim lived in - or just outside Petersfield - for five years in the 1930s.  The town museum has a rather sweet exhibition about it all, a bit inflated with rather more pics of Palazzo than Petersfield but in the mix the thrilling fact that, as the museum is in the old court house and police station she might have paid her driving license fine right there!  Her son, Sinbad (IKYN) went to Bedales and she might have had her big idea about being an art collector right here.  The only real bit of art was the loan of this little Henry Moore bronze which he cunningly offered her for sale when she rejected another sculpture as ‘too big’.

After that I went over to Mum’s for tea and to deliver a new shiny kettle from John Lewis as, while descaling the old one a lump of limestone had entered the works and disabled it.   The garden looked lovely and we picked some artichokes and roses, which I stuffed into the old kettle and took home.

Pilates in the morning and although we woke to rain the sun came out in time for lunch outside and some gardening in the few gaps in the day.
