New Adventures

Auld Reekie

Yesterday friend L came to visit for a weekend trip as a friend of hers got married in the Borders today. I was her plus one.  It was one of those adventure days where we got caught in two gala processions (L had her first introductions to pipe bands and was pretty impressed) at Carnwarth and Peebles.  The Peebels gala looked like a huge event and small children tried to throw sweets through our window as we drove past, it was pretty cute.

The wedding venue was an outdoor glen near Galashiels and was absolutley beautiful.  There's no website for it and you'd struggle to find it on google maps, but what a spot. Nestled in a small valley with enough room for parking and camping, a beautiful dry stone circular 'altar', a yurt and a stream running by.  The ceremony was beautiful, the congregation diverse and it was generally pretty relaxed and chilled out.

After the ceremony we were treated to tunes from the Auld Reekie Band, who did a couple of sets and who were great to watch.  Later came the Meatloaf tribute act.  All in all a beatiful place and some lovely people.
