Ringlet

Today's the day ...................... to be missing in action

Lovely to spot this Ringlet butterfly, fluttering about in the long grass, on a day here that was oppressively warm and humid, but rather cloudy and dull.

I suppose it wasn't the sort of day that most butterflies are looking for - but apparently, Ringlets aren't all that fussy.  They don't seem to mind a bit of dullness that would render other butterflies inactive.  That said, is it just me, or have butterflies in general been more than usually thin on the ground (or in the air) this summer?  Perhaps they're just slow to make an appearance, not helped by some of the weather we've been having.

I do hope so - a summer is not right without butterflies ...................
