SEIZE THE DAY

So we did: having a grand tour of the amazing Bamborough Castle.  Our tour guide walked us from the entrance to the exit around the outside of the castle, all the while expounding its incredible history through the ages.  Then we were left to our own devices to explore the 14 state rooms, the super interesting Keep, the Armstrong and Aviation Museum, where we found out about william George Armstrong whose inventions led to legacies including the spitfire aircraft, London's Tower Bridge and domestic electric light.  Some years ago we visited 'Cragside' the once home of this very famous man, before he came to Bamburgh in 1894.  The current owner of Bamburgh Castle is a descendent of the late William  Armstrong and lives in the Castle with his family.  It was lovely to be able to see some of the family rooms with great family photos on display.

As is per usual in these places the exit is through the Shop!!  Blipper Meconopsisblue will be pleased to hear that I bought L J Ross's new DCI Ryan Mystery: Death Rocks. Our lovely Detective and his team will be investigating a murder near Dunstanburgh Castle, where we visited on Saturday and another near Hadrian's Wall where we were last week!

Another sunny, hot and very humid start to the day but when we came out of the Castle it was raining and it's gone a bit chilly.

I’ve added a couple more photos in Extras.
