Long haul

Our grandson’s parents were at the P!nk concert in Glasgow last night. The concert and the supporting bands and DJ were apparently terrific.

What was less good was the exit from the car park they used. 2 hours stationary before the police took over and got the vehicles moving. Once out the traffic flowed but it meant they were not home until 02:15. Apparently they’d had only 3 hours sleep the night before.

I therefore took over baby watch. Having got to bed at 3 I was woken just before 5. That was a great 10.5 hour sleep for our grandson but not much for me. He was of course well rested and after a nappy change and feed we spent a few hours playing before a gentle doze around 9am.

It was our daughter’s birthday today so I was giving them a lie in especially as they were driving back to Lancaster this evening.

It meant we had a lovely lunch and happy afternoon before watching the England game. Our grandson wore his Scotland strip earlier in the competition and it looked as if he was bringing the same luck to the English team when the last minute goal brought respite then the start of extra time brought relief. Their departure was later than planned and extra time had to be listened to on the radio.

A further doze this evening has restored my sleep imbalance a bit and good to hear everyone is safely back home.
