Cafe Culture
This is 'Sam and Ida' - customers on holiday who came to eat at my cafe today. They were very friendly and eager to help with the cooking and even the tidying up.
I have no idea how the game came about with Arlo but he asked if he could play cafes at tea time and seeing as I thought I'd need some extra encouragement to get them to eat te curry I'd made, I really threw myself into it!
We had a menu and I took their order on a little pad and gave them a napkin and cutlery while they waited. They were really excited about their meal coming so I tried to jazz up the presentation of the food to reflect the sophisticated class of my establishment.
Less 'slop-on-plate-whilst-muttering-about-how-they-wont-eat-it-anyway' style. I even stuck the rice into a wee dish and turned it over like a sandcastle to create a timbale (?!) and put the popadom quarters into it like sails or some such.
The kids were delighted. I went out for my run (no, you didn't just read that wrong) and when I got back Ida was finishing off her second plateful and Arlo had scoffed all of his and had moved on to desert.
Totally chuffed, but you just know they're going to expect this at every meal / snack aren't they? T'aint happening!
