Fixing fences.....
One of those days again. On the plus side the cow that calved on Saturday (who I blipped yesterday) and had big blasted teats was standing with her calve sucking 2 of the 3 bananas this morning.
A meeting this morning, then headed off with a trailer load of fencing gear and 2 terriers to replace some of the rotten stobs on the electric wire round one of the cows fields. The heavy round stobs don't seem to last any length of time these days, partly due to the rubbish treatments that they use now. Old fashioned creosote was the best ,as old electric poles prove by still being the best fence strainers.
The rain started after lunch,so abandoned that job and spent a couple of hours splitting logs for firewood. No doubt my back will protest about swinging an axe ,but no one else will do the job. Once I was finished, started to spread more slurry until it got too wet
Headed down the road tonight to feed the heifers and then fill up the petrol cans and top up the land rover. £201 later, headed for home. Ouch.....
