The creel loaders....
A very wet morning. Round some of the cows then headed off for a family breakfast/ brunch at the Paper Mill at Lasswade. Was going to have the full breakfast like Junior, but opted for French toast, bacon and maple syrup for a bit of a change. Also managed to polish off some of Littlemiss's veggie sausages. Must say they tasted like eating cardboard, but ,hey ho they helped fill the hole.
Headed off this afternoon to get oil and fuel filters for my Class tractor from the dealership at Dunbar. Managed a wee wander round Dunbar harbour and an ice cream cone while I was there.
Then a stop at the tyre fitters at Haddington to collect a tyre for a bale trailer as one has a slow puncture with a chunk missing from a side wall. Got them to fit a new valve to one of the car tyres while I was there.
Then home via the New Holland dealership to get filters for the wee blue tractor ,and a stop to fill the car with diesel. So another expensive afternoon's work.
Littlemiss and her pal are off through to Glasgow for a gig at Glasgow Green tonight. Hopefully the weather has cleared up through there.
As it had stopped raining tonight ,headed off with the quad and 2 terrier co pilots to finish off sorting the electric wire round some of the cow fields. Have now got 4000v going round it all so that should do...
This sculpture was just up from the harbour in Dunbar. Googled it when I got home and it is called the Creel Loaders. Seemingly the women would fill their creels with fish and head off inland to sell them, often going as far as Lauder. A fair treck, and often getting a back load of fresh veg in exchange. They made them tough in the olden days..
