Eddi Reader
One of my all time favourite female singers was on at Settle Victoria Hall.
This was my 70th surprise birthday gift from Frank (when he was still in hospital)
What a show, not only the songs and instrumentals but the funny stories she tells of her life growing up in Glasgow. Eddi is a wonderful all round entertainer. I’ve seen her numerous times and each time I never want the concert to end. She’s about 65 now and has the most amazing range in her voice and everything she sings is straight from the heart and with such feeling. She obviously has a deep understanding and connection with our emotions and a couple of times tears rolled down because some songs were so apt for what Frank and I have been going through but then she would burst out into a funny song or one that got you bopping in your seat or a romantic Rabbie Burns song.
She did funny impressions of her mum back in the days when they would have house parties with the family - her mum singing songs - fag in one hand and a wee dram in the other.

It was so good to go on a night out together. Some normality.
It’s a late night for us and way past my bedtime so I’ll bid you goodnight.
