An ordinary life....

Eat, drink and be merry...

The day started well with lovely sunshine.  D put the cushions on the garden furniture as I was hopeful Agnes and I would sit in the garden after lunch.

Agnes and Adrian arrived just before 2pm and we headed to the golf club for lunch.  I thought the club house would have been busy with golfing buddies watching the last day of the Scottish Open but it was very quiet.

We had a lovely lunch then D and Adrian went to play their round and Agnes and I watched from the clubhouse as they played the first hole.  The sun had been shining when we arrived at the clubhouse but it was raining when we left, so our plan to sit in the garden was scuppered.

Had a lovely catch up with Agnes.  She and Adrian are coming to Andrew and Nikki's evening wedding reception and staying one night in our lodge.  It means they can both have a drink and not have a long drive home from Loch Lomond.

David and Adrian returned with David very happy as he played his best round of the year.  Adrian was not quite so happy with his round but had enjoyed it regardless.

The end of the Scottish Open (well done Bob!  We cheered loudly at your win! :-)) coincided perfectly with the start of the Euros 2024 final.  Adrian was full of hope for an England win.

Dinner was timed perfectly to coincide with football half time.   I'd done the prep earlier so pretty effortless.  oregano with halloumi and orzo salad (I added red pepper and cucumber to the recipe) rocket salad with red onion and grated carrot, melon with feta and mint and crusty tiger bread.  Dessert was the last pieces of my chocolate mint cake, and  strawberries and cream.  I have a group of girlfriends coming for the weekend in a couple of weeks and planning a deli tea (cold meats, cheeses, salads etc) and I will definitely make the orzo salad again as it was delicious.

Poor Adrian was in the dumps watching the football, then elated, then down in the dumps again.  He had a second slice of mint cake to console himself at the end of the game.

Football didn't come home :-(   But golf did!  :-))
