Scarlet Flax

While I was photographing flying ants yesterday a tiny, thick-legged hoverfly kept hovering, then dive-bombing and attacking a red pointed bud which had appeared on a plant grown from the packet of seeds that I bought in the supermarket. This morning the bud had opened. I'm not familiar with the bloom. I've discovered that it's a scarlet flax. No sign of the hoverfly today, which is a shame as I prefer to shoot flowers with bugs on them. Also in my image is echium blue bedder which has also grown from those seeds. Hope these flowers soon start attracting insects as the packet said they would.
