Look Out

Telling the Time

The weather forecast for today didn’t look good, so I decided on a wet weather plan - journeying into Bath. It really is “ tourism central”. I decided to go with the flow, and have had a good day. My excursion included a tour of Bath Abbey’s tower, which is why I have taken this shot behind the tower’s clock. Up to the 1970’s the whole operation was mechanical. For 50 years each week up to the 1970’s Fred (White ?) climbed the spiral staircase of the Abbey and 15 other church towers in Bath and wound them up. Upon his retirement no one else wanted to do his job, so the operation had to involve installing an electric motor (called “little Fred”).

Bath is extremely photogenic and I have taken lots of photos. I’ve included just one as an extra.

I am staying in an isolated and very quirky place. I had an outdoors shower this morning, which I enjoyed. This evening I had surprise visitors just beyond the kitchen window - see extras.
