Fragoso in the Olive Grove

Played by Tiago Mileu. António Fragoso was a Portuguese composer, who tragically died at the age of 21, from the influenza raging Europe at the end of WWI. Going by the varied and beautiful pieces played by Tiago (notice the bare feet), he must have been a genius. And what a setting! Extras of the (free) wine table, and another I liked.

Last day of the festival in Monsaraz. Talk this morning was the best yet, by two passionate and well known historians, José Pacheco Pereira and Ana Paula Amendoeira, on the theme of the festival, a Cante by an illiterate Alentejano in 1935, Joaquim A C Tareco:
I owe the Earth a debt
   The Earth is owing me
The Earth pays me in life
I pay the Earth in dying.      (rough translation)

After a great meal at Sahida, watching the full moon rising across the Lake, we left to the sound of more Cante in packed main square.

Gratefuls:
- a week of so much beauty and learning about this Terra we live in, grateful to Arlinda for organising it all
- Eden and Julia a bit better, think it must be Covid
- bed, it's been past midnight every night this week
