Harbours

One of the reasons we came back to this part of the country, was to explore more of the quaint Cornish harbour villages. Fowey is close to us and we drove there, after an hour in Lostwithiel first thing.

A steep walk down from a central town car park, to the riverside village. It seemed impossible that cars were driving down the roads we walked on, which were very steep, narrow and winding. But many vans kept coming, meaning pedestrians had to squeeze against the shops.

We bought our first freshly baked (mouth burning) pasties and sat to eat them overlooking the estuary. The sea was out.

We had 2 hours in the car park, and my knee is troubling me at the moment, so the climb down and back was hard. I bought a support bandage today. Hope it holds out, well, ideally I hope it improves!

We drove from there to get petrol in St Austell before coming back to the site for the afternoon. Both felt tired and fell asleep reading, until the drizzle drove us inside.

I’m still struggling to stay awake, but daren’t go to bed too early or I won’t sleep.

Tomorrow we might go to Tintagel. We have been before, and love the scenery. Then possibly to Bodmin moor. We will play it by ear….
