Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

‘They don’t even wait till I get my helmet on…’

… was what he was saying, loudly.

Yes, Archie and I braved the Royal Mile, and the real madness hasn’t even started yet!
Crowded buses, rammed pavements, overflowing cafes… but it’s all much better when the sun shines - which it did today!

And what luck - after months of passing by in hope - The Milkman cafe had a spare seat!! My favourite one in the window. Actually, there was a chap already there, but I invited myself to join him. He kept a hold of Archie’s lead while I went up to order. We had a bit of a chat - his two friends were sitting outside in the sun. He’s been in Edinburgh before, and was taking his two friends (from Turkey) up the West Coast in a hired car. Before they all left to go to the castle, they came in for a photo with Archie. (Extra)

I briefly considered walking home, but the bus was imminent, so that’s a no-brainer.

Sorry - I love him - but I’m getting a bit tired of Andy Murray’s endless ‘retirals’… There was one a couple of years ago at the Aussie Open, when they made a big fuss of him with recorded messages from all the top players. But he didn’t retire. Even after the latest, very long ‘retiral’ ceremony at Wimbledon, with all the top players again, he was upset when Radacanu ‘deprived’ him of his ‘final final’ Wimbledon match. Roger Federer, the greatest of them all, just wandered off quietly…

I was pleased to be able to watch ‘The 100’ cricket this afternoon. It’s a great competition, with men’s and women’s matches.
