Geese, Cormorants, Coots
... in this photo*, and then we saw four (four! have never seen more than one here) grey herons fairly close up on an island we paddled past, plus a kite and a stork stalking along the shoreline, plus another baking on its exposed nest. Oh, and some tiny birds (plovers?) all clustered on a rock in the water.
Launched today from Mourão's old beach (no-one else there), and paddled across to Tiago's beach bar below Monsaraz, for a hamburger, and then back again - about half an hour each way.
Gratefuls:
- a cool start to the day, a high of "only" 37C, and feeling cool enough to sleep now
- picking ripe figs, golden plums and a large pear, albeit some pecked by birds
- showering outside
