Westport

We went a little further north today to Westport. The place is stuffed with pubs and cafes so we had a very pleasant coffee and later on we had a good lunch too.

In between, we had a look around Westport House (in extra) with its connections to Grace O'Malley (Granuaile), the 16th century pirate queen. The outside of the house has recently had some essential repair work done, but the inside is still waiting for some conservation. It must be a hugely expensive place to maintain.

Had another beach walk before dinner too. Got a bit wet... but we've now dried out and are watching the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.
