Calne Bike Meet (Saturday 27th July 2024)

Today was the annual Bike Meet, and the air has been heavy with throbbing motorbikes revving past the Old Forge (which is adjacent to the A4). I would have liked to avoid going into the town centre on such a day, but needed a visit to Sainsbury's. It did give me a chance to see the finished Priestley sign without the scaffolding (in Extras, also a view up North Street to the left).

Jeff Beck and Johnny Depp - Isolation (2020)
I discovered this by playing back an old Iggy Pop radio show from 2020. Johnny Depp was in many amateur bands at the start of his career, before he fell into acting, almost by accident. He and Jeff Beck had been hanging out for a couple of years before recording this together. Following on from the previous day's LOTD this is another John Lennon cover, from his first solo album, and their version was released at a timely moment, the start of the Covid pandemic and lockdowns.
