Peering into Mo Geo
A breezy day, but the sun has been shining all day long. Lovely warm day too. Clouded over a bit late this evening.
Up early, Laura picked me up. We met mam, auntie Carol and uncle Mark at West Burrafirth ferry, headed over to Papa Stour for the day. Pete Bardell wad staying over in his house, a cuppa with him, then he came and spent the day hiking with us. Beautiful scenery, amazing wildlife, including minkie whales, and great company. Met friend Julie for walkies this evening. Absolutely shattered tonight.
The scenery has been amazing, as always when I visit here, made even more so with the stunning weather. Uncle Mark is into geology, sadly my knowledge isn't that great on the subject, but I could tell him about this, in simples terms. The dark rock on UM's right, that's bedrock. The orange rock above was part of a continuous lava flow, it spewed out millions of years ago on top of the bedrock. Sadly today the rock is rotten, and slowly crumbling into the sea, but it does make for some dramatic scenery. Peering over the high clifftops, Mo Geo, Papa Stour.
