Cycle to Alp Sardasca
Today was a hot one - at 28C we decided not to go for a hike but to rather cycle. Also, my broken-toe-that-healed-badly is hurting from the steep downhill hike the other day, it's pretty swollen so I thought I should give it a rest and rather cycle. I will need to get that toe X rayed and checked by an ortho but looking at it, it does seem that surgery is the only option and I really don't want to do that so am putting it off!
We cycled up the Mobile Valley to Alp Sardasca, which is a steep cycle going from 1205m in the village to 1646m - there is a section where you climb about 200m in only 1km and it is hard going, but of course much easier on e-bikes. I remember doing this cycle on a normal bike decades ago and it was very challenging! Xena was in her Croozer, she was let out to run next to the bikes on the flat bits, but being so hot today she did not run for very long, she certainly could not have run for the 26km of the cycle so the Croozer is essential. An extra of her in her Croozer. When we got to Alp Sardasca there is an honesty bar of drinks - well it's a variety of home made 'sirups' that you can mix with the fresh mountain water, or there is a container of cold drinks and beers being kept cold in the water trough. We enjoyed a Shorley, a popular local drink that is essentially fizzy water mixed with apple juice.
We got back to the village for a late and light lunch on the terrace of a hotel, before getting a few things we needed in the village. Gavin has been working since then while I have been editing photos.
On Tommy's return flight from Vienna on Saturday his suitcase was lost. BA assured him it would be delivered to our house within 48 hours but it is still showing as 'not found' on the website. I hope it turns up!
